Expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychology

Noura Khayat, PsyD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Clinical and Assessment Supervisor, and the Director of Clinical Services at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment. Dr. Khayat provides psychotherapy and conducts comprehensive psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. She is fluent in English, Arabic, and French.

Working with children and teens struggling with emotional dysregulation and behavioral difficulties is Dr. Khayat’s passion. She approaches her sessions with compassion, common sense, and humor. She firmly believes parents should be involved in their child’s care and meets as needed with caregivers or other care providers to encourage open communication among family members or suggest helpful tools outside of the therapy room. She works with families to create an individualized treatment plan for every patient and enjoys considering each person’s unique needs in suggesting therapy goals. She strives to create a safe space for her patients to discuss whatever makes them “them,” including issues of racial, cultural, and gender identities.

Dr. Khayat earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She completed her predoctoral training at the Institute for Child & Family Health Inc. in Miami, Florida. She received specialized training in cognitive behavioral, integrative, and play therapies concentrating on child and adolescent psychology. Dr. Khayat has also received training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-focused intervention that helps families better understand child anxiety and behavioral disorders.

When outside of the office, Dr. Khayat enjoys reading about psychology, talking about psychology, traveling, and learning new languages.

Honoring Our Roots, Embracing Our Future

As the Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment celebrates our 20th anniversary, we are also announcing that starting this fall, we will be changing the name of our practice to Expand Psychology. This change reflects our commitment to meet the ever evolving mental health needs of our clients and the community.

Since our founding, our clinical team has developed to include specialists who provide a wider range of evidence-based therapies, allowing us to serve additional client populations from infancy through adulthood, expanding our ability to work with the entire family system. Our new name captures the depth of our current services, including our ability to provide psychological testing and autism evaluation for all ages.

A new website will  launch on October 3, 2025 – with a wider scope of mental health services to support you.

We continue to accept new clients during the transition and you can reach out to us via our online form on our current site, at contact@centerforcbtva.com, or phone at 703-618-0900.
