Margaret Tucker Cardon, M.Ed., is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia, specializing in anxiety, depression, and perinatal and maternal mental health concerns. Margaret received her BA in Psychology from Kenyon College and her M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Virginia. Since graduating from UVA, Margaret has gained extensive experience working in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, as well as in outpatient therapy settings.
Margaret values the importance of the therapeutic relationship and maintains a strengths-based and solution-focused emphasis throughout treatment. She works with both couples and individuals aged 16 and older. Margaret enjoys collaborating with clients to address current issues while also exploring the past. She compassionately supports clients in gaining insight into their patterns of behavior and understanding where such patterns may stem from.
Margaret draws from a number of therapeutic disciplines, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). She focuses on young adults and adults who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, and a variety of other mental health concerns. Her specialized work in perinatal and maternal mental health allows her to support new and expecting mothers through the unique challenges of motherhood, ensuring they receive the care and understanding they need during this transformative time
