Gabrielle Green-Oakes is a post-doctoral resident at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment in Alexandria, VA. Dr. Green-Oakes has years of experience working with clients across the lifespan and has particular interests in providing treatment to children/adolescents and families. She has worked with individuals as young as four, who present with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, interpersonal issues, life stressors, ADHD, and mood dysregulation. In addition to therapeutic services, Dr. Green-Oakes also provides comprehensive psychological assessment, educational assessment, and socioemotional testing for individuals of all ages.
Dr. Green-Oakes uses compassion, flexibility, and curiosity to tailor treatment that is individualized to clients’ specific needs and goals. She is passionate about helping clients feel understood, empowered, and supported throughout their therapeutic experience. Dr. Green-Oakes endeavors to create an environment where individuals feel safe to explore their experiences, needs, and emotions. She utilizes culturally informed evidence-based interventions (e.g., psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy) to address clients’ concerns over the course of treatment.
Dr. Green-Oakes is originally from D.C. She earned both her master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA. While in graduate school, Dr. Green-Oakes’ concentrations were in Child and Adolescent Therapy and Psychological Assessment. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (Rockville, MD), an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited site. While in this setting, Dr. Green-Oakes worked with adolescents within the therapeutic day program and residential program, providing comprehensive psychological assessment and individual/family therapy to address behavioral and emotional concerns. Prior to internship, Dr. Green-Oakes trained in highly diverse community-mental health settings. She also has previous experience in private practice working with clients of all ages.
