Bianca Bonds, Ph.D., M.Ed.

Bianca Bonds, Ph.D., M.Ed. is a post-doctoral resident at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment in Falls Church and Alexandria, VA.  Working with adolescents and young adults is a passion of Dr. Bonds’ and she believes in the power of supporting individuals throughout this developmental stage to break boxes, navigate life transitions, explore intersectional identities (i.e. race/ethnicity/nationality, gender, sexuality), negotiate changing relationships, and build a foundation for a life of their dreams. As a long time educator, Dr. Bonds also enjoys working with children, families, and emerging adults to improve educational attainment through behavioral and achievement support.

Dr. Bonds has provided treatment and conducted assessments for adolescents and adults with varying presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, life transitions, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem concerns, attentional difficulties, grief/loss, and other trauma and stressor related difficulties. Dr. Bonds utilizes an integrative approach to conceptualize the relationships, systems, and experiences that impact individuals. She draws from CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, attachment theories, trauma informed approaches, available literature, and culturally responsive techniques. Dr. Bonds focuses on helping clients to identify how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact their life outcomes. She prioritizes a person-centered approach and is dedicated to building an authentic therapeutic alliance that supports clients to feel empowered and motivated to broaden their capacity, build upon their strengths, and achieve their goals.

Dr. Bonds received her masters degree from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She then earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Child Guidance Clinic of the DC Superior Courts. Dr. Bonds’ prior clinical training included providing intervention, treatment, and assessment for court-involved children and adults, providing psychotherapy and psychoeducation as a high school resident therapist, and conducting individual and family therapy and assessment at a medical center.

Honoring Our Roots, Embracing Our Future

As the Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment celebrates our 20th anniversary, we are also announcing that starting this fall, we will be changing the name of our practice to Expand Psychology. This change reflects our commitment to meet the ever evolving mental health needs of our clients and the community.

Since our founding, our clinical team has developed to include specialists who provide a wider range of evidence-based therapies, allowing us to serve additional client populations from infancy through adulthood, expanding our ability to work with the entire family system. Our new name captures the depth of our current services, including our ability to provide psychological testing and autism evaluation for all ages.

A new website will  launch on October 3, 2025 – with a wider scope of mental health services to support you.

We continue to accept new clients during the transition and you can reach out to us via our online form on our current site, at contact@centerforcbtva.com, or phone at 703-618-0900.
