Daniella Diaz is a psychology extern at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. She is a third-year Clinical Psychology doctoral candidate at The George Washington University’s Professional Psychology (Psy.D) Program.
Daniella provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. She has a particular interest in supporting clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, behavioral challenges, and difficulties with emotion regulation.
She also enjoys helping clients explore their identities and relationships. Much of her work focuses on guiding individuals through major life transitions, such as adjusting to a new school, preparing for college, or stepping into early adulthood. She has experience in both community mental health and private practice settings, where she has worked with clients from diverse age groups and clinical backgrounds. Daniella also has a strong interest in psychological assessment and has conducted comprehensive evaluations to better understand clients’ emotional, cognitive, and academic functioning.
In her work with children and adolescents, Daniella incorporates play, creativity, and humor to build trust and support emotional expression. She collaborates closely with caregivers to help create continuity between therapy and home. With young adults, she brings a reflective and collaborative approach, helping clients clarify their goals, deepen their self-understanding, and build confidence in navigating life’s complexities. Across all age groups, Daniella strives to create a warm and supportive space grounded in curiosity, cultural humility, and respect for each client’s unique background and lived experience. Her approach integrates psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral frameworks, allowing her to tailor treatment to each individual’s developmental stage and therapeutic needs.
Daniella earned her Bachelor of Arts from James Madison University, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Family Studies. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University.
As the Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment celebrates our 20th anniversary, we are also announcing that starting this fall, we will be changing the name of our practice to Expand Psychology. This change reflects our commitment to meet the ever evolving mental health needs of our clients and the community.
Since our founding, our clinical team has developed to include specialists who provide a wider range of evidence-based therapies, allowing us to serve additional client populations from infancy through adulthood, expanding our ability to work with the entire family system. Our new name captures the depth of our current services, including our ability to provide psychological testing and autism evaluation for all ages.
A new website will launch on October 3, 2025 – with a wider scope of mental health services to support you.
We continue to accept new clients during the transition and you can reach out to us via our online form on our current site, at contact@centerforcbtva.com, or phone at 703-618-0900.
