Rachel Kabir, Ph.D.

Rachel Kabir, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. She specializes in working with children and adolescents with various presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, and behavioral difficulties. While specializing in youth, Dr. Kabir is happy to serve patients of all ages.

Dr. Kabir earned her doctoral and master’s degree in school psychology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, an American Psychological Association (APA) and National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) accredited program. Dr. Kabir then moved on to complete an APA-accredited internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas, where she conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations in the school setting and provided therapy to children and adolescents.

With years of experience providing psychological services across school and clinical settings, Dr. Kabir trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention at The Anxiety and OCD Treatment Center of Ann Arbor in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations and assigns diagnoses when appropriate, using clinical (DSM-5) and educational (IDEIA) criteria.

Dr. Kabir primarily uses a cognitive behavioral therapy approach and ensures that treatment meets the needs of each individual child and family. She believes in the importance of involving parents in treatment and works flexibly with families to meet the child’s needs best. She has also received her Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) Certification.
