Shanika Goodspeed, PsyD.

Shanika Goodspeed, PsyD is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with a wealth of experience in both clinical psychological assessment and forensic evaluation. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Spalding University, which is complemented by master’s degrees in clinical psychology and forensic psychology.

Dr. Goodspeed specializes in comprehensive clinical psychological assessments, addressing a wide range of issues including educational concerns, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, developmental disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, impulse control, and substance use. Her expertise extends to forensic assessments, focusing on competency to stand trial, violence risk, and psychosexual evaluations as well as trauma-focused therapy.

Throughout her career, Dr. Goodspeed has made significant contributions in various settings. She has provided trauma therapy for people of color at a racial trauma clinic, worked with individuals with serious mental illnesses in an in-patient forensic hospital, and offered specialized services to justice-involved youth with autism. Her experience also includes conducting court-ordered violence risk, competency to stand trial, and psychosexual evaluations as well as individual and group therapy in a prison setting.

Dr. Goodspeed’s work on high-profile cases at the Superior Court of Washington D.C. and Central State Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky has been noteworthy, and she offers her services in both English and Spanish. She is recognized as a dynamic speaker, having delivered numerous presentations on cultural humility and inclusiveness. Additionally, she is a co-author of the 2021 publication, “Practicing Cultural Humility to Build Inclusive Excellence,” which underscores her commitment to fostering inclusive environments.
